Apple has revealed the schedule for its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco next month, but said nothing about whether we can expect any old-school Apple proeduct launch magic…
Exact details are sketchy at best, with the company remaining tight-lipped on who will be on stage or what will be announced or discussed. Though speculation has been rife that the conference might get to slap eyes on the new iPhone, and the company has launched iPhones at the event previously, many indications are the next handset isn’t expected until after the summer.
WWDC will kick off on Monday 11 June with a mystery keynote address, closing on June 15, by which time, we hope, all questions will have been answered. Tickets went on sale in April for $1,599 a pop, and sold out in a matter of hours.
Apple has launched a free WWDC 2012 app for iPhone and iPad with information on the event schedule, news, venue maps and a folder for conference images. While the app is free, access to this content is restricted to WWDC attendees only.
This is the first WWDC since the late Steve Jobs passed away, and despite the phenomenal success of the latest iPad iteration, Apple’s reputation for world beating launches and show-stopping announcements has taken something of a battering without the big man at the helm; the industry will be looking to this event for something special to rekindle the magic.
