The event, held in Burlingame (SF) did not disappoint.  AnDevCon III is focused 100% on the users’ need to learn about Android development and is the biggest, info-packed, most practical Android conference in the world and keynotes included Google, Barnes & Noble, and htc Dev, just to name a few.  On offer were 80+ workshops and technical classes at all levels, from overview to intermediate to advanced.  Sessions were organised into five subject areas:

Development Essentials: Technical classes for all Android developers and covered all programming topics.

Android Business: Classes and workshops for entrepreneurial developers who want to learn the most effective ways of distributing and selling Android apps, including how to maximise profit through the Android Market.

Android Tablets and beyond: Classes and workshops specific to commercial devices beyond smartphones, including tablets, Google TV, and other platforms.

Embedded Android: Classes and workshops for developers working close to the hardware, such as on custom devices, or diving deep into the internals of this flavour of embedded Linux.

Aside from this, within the exhibit hall, attendees could also learn about the best tools, services and resources for Android developers and marketers, mingle and networking during breaks and the evening reception.

There was a steady stream of traffic past the LiveCode booth and everyone was very interested, engaged and keen to push Android development and get as much out of it as possible.  The majority of the attendees were experienced developers and there was a good mix of people from different backgrounds, from the very large companies, dedicated coding teams, to smaller companies.  There were also a number of people who were interested in using LiveCode for more personal projects outside of their jobs.

Hi from Elanor!

Here’s what Elanor had to say about the value of the conference: “It was a great conference and I think the attendees got a lot out of it.  There were many talks and sessions and a real variety of stands in the exhibition centre – App monitization, development products, books, hardware, testing systems and code analysis.  Oh………lunch was very nice too!”
