Congratulations to Christine Woelk, Germany, who is the lucky winner of our iPad2 competition.
I gave the good news to Christine (and her husband Christopher) earlier today. “I bought my wife an iPad for Christmas”, Christopher joked “so it’s great to get another one in the house.” He went on to speculate about who would get to keep this newest version…. but seems resigned to the fact that his wife will have the iPad2, and he’ll be given the older one. It just goes to show that some things are the same no matter what country you live in.
Psychotherapy 2.0
Christine works as a psychologist and psychotherapist in Lohne, Germany. Along with her husband Christopher, also a psychotherapist, Christine has a keen interest in E-Mental Health provision – that is, in providing mental health solutions to her patients via the internet and mobile devices. Christine will use LiveCode to write what she calls ‘little helpers’ – programs that can deliver mental health solutions to her patients through their PC or mobile device. The couple already have a number of these products for sale and see LiveCode as an essential tool to expand their product line.
Why LiveCode
Until now they have used simple multimedia tools, they told me, but they have reached a point where those products are now too basic. It was when they started working on “Family Affair”- a ‘little helper’ program to encourage their patients to visualize their social connections and the importance of their family – that they were introduced to LiveCode by a colleague. “We needed a tool that could keep up with us, which responded instantly to new ideas and which let us write programs that grow quickly to encompass the full depth our mental health projects” Dr. Woelk said.
Their new iPad 2 will be used in testing these new mental health initiatives and I know I speak for the entire office when I say how pleased I am that our prize is going to such a good cause.
