If you’ve built your app on IBM’s Bluemix, then we have good news this morning. Bluemix developers can now deploy their cloud apps in new markets – without the need for a translator – all thanks to a new cloud-based service from IBM called Globalization Pipeline.
IBM’s clever translation service can automate translation between nine of the most-spoken languages around the world; English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

Globalization Pipeline is currently in beta and will automate the process of translation so developers can focus on manual tasks. If changes are required to IBM’s translation, it’s possible to make human edits post-machine translation. A set of open-source SDKs enables developers to update translations without having to rebuild or deploy their apps.
A 2014 study conducted by Common Sense Advisory found that 75 percent of consumers want to buy products in their native language; with 60 percent “rarely” or “never” buying products from English-only websites. If you are offering just English in your applications, you could be losing a large amount of potential users/customers.
Hiring a translator for each language – and implementing the translations into your application – is both expensive and time-consuming. IBM’s new cloud-based tool helps to speed-up this process and enables you to focus on making great applications which have the biggest reach possible.

Bluemix has been going from strength-to-strength after its $1 billion investment last year, and has witnessed rapid-growth which has led to it becoming the largest Cloud Foundry deployment in the world.
