I am Björnke von Gierke and I would like to introduce you to LiveCode.tv. RunRev was so nice to invite me to keep you informed, from time to time, about this ongoing project on their blog. Please note that despite its name, LiveCode.tv events are not made or organized by RunRev, but are completely community driven.
What is it?
LiveCode.tv is a community project for everyone, including you. Every Saturday for the past few months we have gathered in ChatRev and watched one or two presenter stream live presentations about LiveCode, Ribbons and other relevant topics. We had a short summer break, but now the events are back in all their glory. So come over, and watch what people are doing with LiveCode.
Why watch it?
Besides the unique possibility to connect with, and learn from, other LiveCode users, these presentations often introduce previews to future projects, and allow you an instant venue to question the presenter about how or why he implemented his tools. For example, MobGUI, the native iPhone widget library, was first introduced on LiveCode.tv, and John Criag, the inventor of MobGUI, made several re-appearances explaining the inner workings of this essential tool for all Mobile developers.
Many of the presentations are basic introductions to LiveCode, or small tricks and tips for getting the most out of everyone’s favorite IDE Mark Schonowille’s recent discussion about how to properly use default buttons is a good example of this.
Why participate?
Obviously, as a community driven project, we depend completely on volunteers. Over at LiveCode.tv, we aim to give a platform to all LiveCode users who are interested in sharing any of their experiences. We promote a “No topic is forbidden” policy but still find that it can be difficult to locate people that are ready to invest some hours to talk about themselves or their projects.
So, this is a general call to arms for all budding presenters and/or LiveCode enthusiasts out there. If you’d like to tell other people about the interesting things you’ve done in your life, hop over to our site and contact us about participating in a future show. We also always need volunteers with the website, organizing events, acquiring participants or simply getting ideas about how to improve the events.

LiveCode.tv took a break for the summer and now it has come back sun tanned and ready to rock.
This Saturday Mario Miele will introduce the 2.0 update to his style palette add-on. It allows the creation and organization of different custom button styles, making skinning your application much easier. He did present about it before, and he will also offer some general hints about working with the graphical features of LiveCode.
David Bovill returns with a presentation on lateral unit testing, highlighting how he aims to implement it in his LiveCode based version control platform.
