Yesterday was Geek Pride Day – that red letter day for technophiles, Sci-Fi Fan boys/girls (I refuse to bow to populist pressure and refer to it as SyFy) and gadget groupies everywhere. It’s that day when we can all wave our Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal towels in the air, shake our light sabers and give thanks for the second coming (of Steve Jobs, naturally).

For the uninitiated, Geek Pride Day, celebrated on the Glorious 25^th of May each year, is a day originally chosen to worship George Lucas remember the anniversary of the release of the original Star Wars film. The day is remembered by fans of Terry Pratchett’s Disc World as The People’s Revolution of the Glorious Twenty-Fifth of May – resulting in the shortlived People’s Republic of Treacle Mine Road with “Truth, Justice, Freedom, Reasonably-Priced Love and a Hard-Boiled Egg!” for all. Don’t Panic, I’ve not forgotten Towel Day – celebrating the brilliance of Douglas Adam and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
