A new iOS app called ConnectKit helps developers to store their App Store Connect API keys and create ‘Shortcuts’ for helpful actions.

The app securely stores App Store Connect API keys and syncs them across devices using iCloud.

ConnectKit will guide developers through the process of generating a certificate and inputting credentials when the app is first opened.

This data is used so developers can access information across their apps via endpoints including:

  • TestFlight
  • Users and Roles
  • Provisioning
  • App Metadata
  • Reporting
  • Power and Performance Metrics

ConnectKit then helps with creating automated Shortcut actions to make developers’ lives a bit easier.

In a blog post, Holtz gave an example:

“ConnectKit includes one Shortcut action for free. This is the ‘Get JWT’ action. It outputs a JWT valid for 20 minutes which can be used to make an authorized request using iOS’s built-in ‘Get Contents of URL’ action. Pass this JWT in the Authorization header, set your URL to an App Store Connect API endpoint, and boom… you got yourself a JSON response that you can parse.”

ConnectKit comes with examples of all the actions and Holtz says these will be continuously updated. Suggestions for examples can even be submitted via the GitHub repo.

Four premium actions are currently available:

  • Make Request
  • Get Apps (and more coming like this)
  • Get Finance Reports
  • Get Sales Reports

The app supports iOS 14 features like widgets to enable developers to at-a-glance keep track of things like download numbers and how many beta testers have signed up for an app through TestFlight.

While admitting it’s probably not that useful for most workflows, Holtz even used ConnectKit to create a shortcut which allowed him to submit ConnectKit to the App Store for review using Siri over CarPlay.

ConnectKit is free but many features require unlocking through in-app ‘tips’ ranging from $1.99 to $5.99. You can grab it on the App Store here.
