Bitcasa is challenging developers to come up with new and innovative ways to leverage its cloud storage platform at the upcoming Apps Hackfest in San Francisco.
The cloud storage platform is inviting Hackfest participants to use the Bitcasa API to create a useful and easy way to drop and drag anything into a Bitcasa Drive. For example, a Go Pro plugin; an IFTTT-like automation; or a mobile app that collects and shares your favourite digital stuff.
The Bitcasa REST API provides a plug-and-play file system for your mobile, web, and desktop apps – making storage and devices fully independent. It enables easy web-based sharing, streaming functionality, and leverages Bitcasa’s enterprise-grade encryption.
After launching its developer program in November 2013, Bitcasa has seen a number of applications integrate its cloud storage platform including Plex, which consolidates and streams users’ media; Kloudless, which consolidates aggregates user email attachments; and Otixo, which allows customers to consolidate and collaborate on cloud files.
To help inspire creativity, Bitcasa is offering the first 20 qualified participants with a Starbucks card, while the creator of the most useful app will win a Playstation 4. Other prizes up for grabs include a Chromebook or Nexus 5, and a Pebble smartwatch.
The judging panel will include Raj Singh, Founder and CEO of Tempo Al; Gabriel Weiss, Head of Interactive Marketing Technologies at Mitsubishi Electric Cooling and Heating; Rytis Vitkauskas, CEO of YPlan; Tim Lytle, Developer Evangelist at Nexmo; Philip Easter, Director of Mobile Apps, American Airlines; and Gray Norton, Director at Enyo.
The App Hackfest will take place on the February 5 and 6 at The Moscone Centre West, San Francisco during the Apps World 2014 conference.
