App downloads to hit 98 billion by 2015

Mobile application downloads are to continue their reign of popularity after a new study from analyst firm Berg Insight predicted that total app downloads in 2015 will reach 98 billion. The new study found that if this target is reached it means that the compound annual growth rate of downloads between 2010 and 2015 will be 56.6 percent.The research follows a study by In-Stat earlier this year which predicted that mobile app downloads will reach the far more modest figure of 48 billion by 2015, due mainly to the boom of touch-screen...

Adobe pulls plug on its app markets

Adobe has closed down its two app stores AIR Marketplace and InMarket, with apparently little explanation other than that it acted in response to developer feedback.

Developers who have published applications to the Intel AppUp centre, should receive an email from Intel in the next few days with important information on how you can continue to publish, track and sell your applications through the Intel AppUp center.

New private distribution options in WP7 Apps Hub update

Microsoft has announced the rollout of the anticipated update for WP7 Apps Hub, providing developers with a number of new features and private distribution options.

The Hub has been updated with new markets, distribution options and enhanced apps and account management capabilities.
